The Brooklyn home where Truman Capote lived and wrote Breakfast At Tiffany's and In Cold Blood has sold for $12 million, a huge discount from the initial $18 million listing price from May 2010, the New York Daily News reports.

Even so, the final price set a new record, becoming the most expensive single family home ever sold in Brooklyn. The previous record was $11 million, also for a townhouse in Brooklyn Heights, according to the Daily News.

Capote rented the garden apartment in the five-story, double-width, high Greek-Revival four-bay townhouse from 1955 to 1965.

Built in 1839, the home features a three-story elliptical mahogany staircase with rosette oculus window at the top.

Here are other highlights: 38 windows have east, south, and west exposures, 11 fireplaces, 11 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, and a private gated driveway, 12-ft. ceilings, artist’s studio, and library.

No word yet on the identity of the buyer.

The house was built in 1839, and is 9,000+ sq. ft.
