lenny dykstra house

For the sports-obsessed, this 13,000-square-foot mansion in Thousand Oaks, Calif. has an incredible backstory.

Custom-built by hockey great Wayne Gretzky, the mansion was later sold to disgraced baseball star Lenny Dykstra for $17.5 million, who lost it in foreclosure after reportedly trashing the place. Dykstra was just sentenced to 6.5 months in jail for hiding assets that were supposed to be part of his bankruptcy filing.

The home was sold at auction in 2010, and the current owners completely overhauled the home and just put it back on the market with a $14.995 million price tag, according to Trulia.

It no longer bears the scars Dykstra left on it, and is absolutely fantastic looking.

For sports fans, this Thousand Oaks mansion has an impressive history.

Wayne Gretzky had it custom-built, and Lenny Dykstra later bought it and lived there for a couple of years.

But the home fell into disrepair, and Dykstra lost it to foreclosure in 2010.

HOUSE OF THE DAY: Tamara Ecclestone Eyes The $125 Million Mansion Her Sister Tried To Buy

tamara ecclestone house

Talk about a sibling rivalry. Just over a year after Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone dropped $85 million on Holmby Hills' famous Spelling Mansion, her sister Tamara is rumored to be looking at an even more expensive home in the same neighborhood.

According to The Sun, Tamara "is desperate to buy" the Fleur de Lys estate, also in Holmby Hills, which returned to the market last year with a $125 million asking price. Tamara, 28, is reportedly moving from London to the U.S. to film a reality TV show.

The home, owned by philanthropist Suzanne Saperstein, has 12 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, a ballroom, two kitchens, a massive movie theater, a pool, tennis courts, and a nine-car garage.

Here's where the sibling rivalry comes in. Shortly before Petra, 23, bought the Spelling Mansion, she reportedly made an $80 million offer on Fleur de Lys, but was turned down by Saperstein, notes celebrity real estate blogger The Real Estalker.

If Tamara winds up in the home, it will be a major coup for the older sister.

Fleur de Lys has a gated entrance on North Carolwood Drive, one of Holmby Hills' most exclusive addresses.

The house, on four acres of land, was built in 2002.

The CEO of Yammer famously rented the house for his 40th birthday bash over the summer.

dakota

Former hedge fund manager Bruce Barnes has sold his three-bedroom apartment at The Dakota, a storied apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side where he is also the president of the co-op board, Curbed reports.

The apartment was listed for $29.6 million in April, and had recently undergone a renovation to restore its 19th century details, according to the listing with Brown Harris Stevens.

Barnes said last year that hoped to downsize and spend more time outside the city. He said he would finish the remainder of his term at the helm of the co-op board.

While the buyer remains anonymous, he or she is one lucky owner: the apartment is one of the largest in the building, with expansive views of Central Park.

The Dakota, on the Upper West Side, is perhaps best known as the location of John Lennon's murder.

Barnes' apartment, on the twelfth floor, has panoramic views of Central Park.

Eight windows face the park directly.
