HOUSE OF THE DAY: This Wacky Bronx Mansion Is Still On The Market For $11 Million

$

Chapel Hill Bronx Mansion

One of the weirdest homes on the New York real estate market has lowered its asking price from $13.588 million to $10.999 million, according to The New York Daily News.

The 14,000-square-foot Chapel Hill Mansion in the Bronx was originally built in 1928, and remodeled by the head of the New York Theological Society for the preparation of the "second coming of Jesus Christ."

The home was supposed to house "the Christian savior once he returned to earth to judge the living and the dead," listing broker Sean McPeak of Prudential Douglas Elliman told The Real Deal in 2012.

Perhaps the creepy backstory has caused the house to remain on the market — the new property listing on Halstead Property glosses over the home's weird history.

Instead, it talks up the tile from the Holy See, a replica marble fireplace like the one at the White House, and a chandelier from The Plaza.

This is the 14,000-square-foot Chapel Hill Bronx mansion meant for Jesus Christ's second coming.

The home features marble floors imported from the Vatican and chandeliers from the Plaza Hotel.

The dining room boasts an original hand-carved marble fireplace.

$100 million city spire penthouse

One of the most impressive properties in Manhattan  an 8,000-square-foot penthouse condominium in the CitySpire building on West 56th Street  has returned to market for $100 million, The Real Deal reports.

Owner Steven Klar, president of Long Island real estate developer The Klar Organization, first listed the blockbuster with a broker apartment last July.

But he pulled the listing after about six months when it failed to sell. It just reappeared on StreetEasy, and it looks like Klar is acting as his own broker, The Real Deal notes.

The penthouse is octagon-shaped and has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

Klar purchased the apartment in 1993 for $4.5 million as "raw space." It now spans three floors, and includes a separate guest apartment one floor below.

The entryway is reminiscent of Versailles.

Famed architect Juan Pablo Molyneux designed the apartment.

The home has an eat-in chef's kitchen with adjacent butler's pantry.

One of London's most famous real estate developers has listed his triplex penthouse in New York's Plaza Hotel for $59 million, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Christian Candy — who last year paid $25.9 million for the unit — is flipping the pad for more than double the price after redecorating it with his own design company Candy & Candy, according to WSJ.

The home, which is located on the 19th, 20th, and 21st floors of the iconic hotel, is listed with Brown Harris Stevens realtor Kyle Blackmon. It has uninterrupted views of Central Park and New York's skyline.

With over 6,000 square feet of space and a 230-square-foot balcony that looks out over Central Park, the penthouse is quite extravagant.

If the penthouse sells at its astronomical asking price, it would be a record for the Plaza Hotel, according to WSJ, surpassing the previous record purchase of $48 million for two adjacent condos in 2011.

Candy is best known as the developer of London's One Hyde Park, the world's most expensive apartment building.

Tour The Most Expensive Mansion For Sale In America

Cooper beach mansion $190 million

This past May, a $190 million Connecticut mansion went on the market and became the most expensive home for sale in the U.S.

Now, pictures on David Ogilvy & Associates Realtors website have surfaced that show just how opulent the estate really is.

The 50-acre property dates back to the 1890s, and is currently owned by timber magnate John Rudey.

The 12-bedroom home has 15,000 square feet of living space, 7,000 square feet of basement and attic space, and an 1,800-foot-long driveway. There's also a grass tennis court, innumerable gardens, apple orchard, greenhouses, 75-foot-long heated pool, and a carriage house.

However, it's not without flaws. According to The Wall Street Journal's Alyssa Abkowitz:

While in good condition, the interior needs upgrading; [Owner] Mr. Rudey, for example, had plans drawn up to design a kitchen off the dining room, as the main kitchen is in the basement, which was part of the staff quarters. There are old speaking tubes from pre-electricity days and sleeping porches, which were once used in warmer months before air conditioning was the norm.

If it does sell at the listing price, Copper Beech Farm would be the new most expensive home ever sold in the U.S., surpassing the Montana Ranch rumored to have sold for $132.5 million to real estate mogul Stanley Kroenke in November 2012.
