Maris HOTD

Bill Maris, founder and managing partner of Google Ventures, has sold his Palo Alto home for its asking price of $2.85 million, according to Realtor.com.

The home has four bedrooms and a beautifully modern design, but the most interesting part of it may be who happens to live next door.

Maris' former home actually shares a small piece of land with a similarly designed house belonging to Apple CEO Tim Cook. Cook reportedly bought the modest, 2,095-square-foot condo for $1.9 million back in 2010, around the same time Maris moved in.

The decision to keep a rival close by is interesting, especially considering that other tech executives like Marissa Mayer and Mark Zuckerberg have been known to buy surrounding properties just to keep other people away.

Maris reportedly moved to Mountain View in 2012, meaning that Tim Cook will soon have a brand-new neighbor.

The 2,065-square-foot home is situated at the end of an ultra-private driveway, to the rear of Cook's home.

UES Manhattan 1

After selling New York City's first $100 million townhouse to the nation of Qatar, the A Team — a real estate group headed by brothers Tal and Oren Alexander from Douglas Elliman Real Estate — have another impressive listing on display.

This time, the brothers are representing fertilizer billionaire Alexander Rovt, who's not only selling his Upper East Side townhouse, but a Phantom Rolls-Royce to go along with it, according to the New York Post.

The Rolls-Royce was actually added to the property by the brokers, not the seller, Tal Alexander told Business Insider. It draws extra attention to the fact that the townhouse comes with a private garage, which is rare.

"This house is going to cater to a Chinese or Middle Eastern buyer," Alexander said. "We know that the Phantom is an attractive car to that type of buyer."

The property spans 25 feet, putting it on the wider end of the city's townhouses. It has five outdoor spaces, including a rooftop patio. The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home recently underwent renovations that took five years to complete, and now comes with a pool and jacuzzi in the basement.

The home and car are on the market for a total of $25 million.

The Upper East Side townhouse has a width of 25 feet, putting it on the spacious end of New York City's townhouses.

The house has 11,400 square feet with ceiling heights between 12 and 14 feet.

kenny rogers house of the day

A gorgeous Bel-Air estate formerly owned by country singer Kenny Rogers is on sale for $65 million.

The hillside mansion is technically still under construction after being enlarged from 9,359 square feet to a whopping 24,000 square feet, listing agent Mia Trudeau of Hilton & Hyland told the Wall Street Journal. The home is virtually complete, save for the new guest wing, which will add another two bedrooms and three bathrooms to the home.

Currently, the mansion has nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms with a ballroom, a saltwater pool, a 12-seat home theater, and even a refrigerated wine room. With two acres of property, the estate also has a tennis court, gym with a sauna, and an outdoor glass elevator next to the pool.

Rogers purchased the home in the ‘70s, according to the WSJ. He added two lion statues to the main gate and renamed the property “Liongate.”

The current sellers of the home are a mystery, but Trudeau told the WSJ that “they are European and purchased the home for personal use,” adding that they put the mansion up for sale because they hadn’t spent enough time in Los Angeles.

The property is currently listed with Hilton & Hyland.
